Nonprofit Law Revitalization Comes to New York

The New York Nonprofit Revitalization Act of 2013 was signed into law on December 18, bringing the most sweeping change to New York State's nonprofit law in 40 years and enhancing nonprofit governance and oversight while reducing unnecessary and outdated burdens on nonprofits. With the Act taking effect on July 1, 2014, it's time for New York nonprofits to take a look at their governance documents, policies and procedures as well as their governance structures to comply with the detailed requirements of the Act. This Alert includes highlights of some of the most significant changes made by the Act.
